Skenitis

Venereology > Sexually transmitted diseases > gonorrhea
The skene glands lie on the sides of the urethra (para-urethral glands). Their ducts open onto the posterior floor of urethra.
- If skene gland is infected ,it will become swollen & pus comes out from its duct.
It is homologus to the prostate gland in males. In 2OO2 the skene's gland was officially renamed the prostate by the Federation Interrnational Committee on Anatomical Terminology.
The female prostate, like the male prostate, secretes PSA & levels of this antigen rises in the presence of cancer of the gland. The gland also expels fluid, like the male prostate during orgasm.
